Urgh. The niche question.

I spiral into self-criticism the moment I hear it.

It took me forever to decide I wanted to blog and write novels. I’ve written copy, short stories, scripts, interviews, you name it. I banged my head against a wall for years, wondering what kind of a writer I wanted to be. I almost gave up writing at one point; that’s how much it messed me up.

And now, just when I decided, when I thought the hard part was over, here they go again with “choose a niche, or you’ll never be successful”!

I can’t. I’ve tried, and I’ve failed multiple times.

Why can’t I? Is it because I have something to say about everything, or do I have nothing valuable to say about anything? Is it because I’m too stupid to go deep into any subject?

Maybe I’m too indecisive and easily distracted to ever succeed as a writer. How are people supposed to know what I’m about if I don’t even know?

What are your thoughts?

I have three niches I write about myself. I definitely encourage having more than one topic and them being completely unrelated to each other. Why? Because writing about the same thing for too long can feel boring and repetitive. It's good to have multiple subjects to bounce back.

I think it depends. I'm building a niche affiliate site, which will be incredibly lucrative once it's established. It has to be niche or it would confuse readers looking for information on the subject.
