I’m Surprised By The Quality Of My Uninspired Writing.
If you make your tired brain care, you can make your readers care.
I took Shonda Rhimes Scriptwriting MasterClass a few years ago, and if I have to boil it down to one thing, it’s this:
All successful writers write a lot.
Like, A LOT.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a scriptwriter, novelist or blogger. Copywriters nowadays have much more to write than a slogan or an ad: there are websites, social media posts, listings.
Writing isn’t exactly a passive income system.
Of course, your name will work for you after a while. If you’re lucky, a few of your written things will continue to bring you great money and popularity for years.
But successful writers write. Let me put it another way: rich writers write. No way around it.
So, I write a lot.
More than I’m comfortable with.
I realize I’ve idealized the profession of a writer. I’ve created an image in my head that doesn’t exist: a writer who walks on a beach, travels, paints, meditates and exercises, all the while generating ideas and inspiration.
