I’m Exhausted and Bored, and a Little Excited.
“Out of that feeling, a decision was born.”
Living and working in London was a crazy period of my life. I often worked 10–12–14 hours a day. As a corporate-sales executive, I had to run on meetings halfway across a huge city, then sit in front of my computer to answer emails, check on a bunch of projects, make a bunch of calls. Then my boss would come up with a new idea or give me an additional task that I’d consider a sign of his confidence in me.
I remember this one morning; I was worried I’d be late for a meeting with a Foxtons representative. Foxtons were the largest real estate agency in London and our biggest account.
I didn’t know London that well back then, so I decided to call a cab.
It seemed like the best thing to do — what if I get the wrong train or get off at the wrong station?
Well, the cab got stuck in morning traffic, the driver misread the address, and I ended up being an hour late.
Thankfully, my Foxtons contact was a great guy who welcomed me anyway, and the meeting went okay. My boss wasn’t that nice about it.
My point is, I was constantly busy and stressed and pressured.
