How to Take a Summer Break As a Freelancer & Still Make Money.

It was a hot summer day, and I was visiting my mom, who lives in the hotel where she works.

I had quit my job a few months prior, and I was just beginning to build my freelance practice. I took on every client I could, and I bent over backward to please them.

When mom got out of work early to surprise me with a drink by the pool and a shopping trip, I screamed at her. I screamed my heart out, blaming her that she didn’t ask me first, that she didn’t appreciate how difficult this was.

I can still see her shocked expression.

A few months later, I burnt out completely and came down with a terrible flu. That was that. I was either going to do this freelance thing on my terms or not at all.

That was 10 years ago.

This August, even though I have a few projects due, I’m blogging regularly & and I’m writing my newsletter; I’m also taking a break. It’s actually a must now that I’m a mom myself.

There are 73 million freelancers in the USA and 1 billion across the world. I’m sure many of them…
