5 Psychology Mind Tricks That Changed Me In A Year.
#1. Tell yourself a better lie.
I like to write my end-of-year reviews on Facebook every year. I’m a writer, and few things make writers happier than sharing their stories.
But this year, I didn’t write a review.
It felt weird to blow my own horn. It felt unnecessary to say, hey, you know what, this is the best year I’ve had in a while. I’m ending it richer, thinner and with a finished first draft of my novel.
I have a beautiful family, fun friends. We’re all healthy and well, and I’m working my dream job.
I don’t know. I guess it should be okay to say things like that, but also, I don’t want to make people feel shitty. Because sometimes, it’s just not your time, no matter how hard you try.
And what value would my perfect year bring to anyone? None.
Unless!
Unless maybe I try to sum up how I got here using psychology to reprogram my thinking.
